Melanie Parke grew up on a small horse farm in Indiana and received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1989. The Philosophy of Tea is the title of her solo show up now at Kenise Barnes Fine Art, in Larchmont, New York. She is currently included in two group shows: Shelter, works by artists made during Covid-19 at Meyer Vogl in Charleston, SC and Manic Botanic at Garvey Simon Art Projects NYC. Her work can be seen locally at Anne Loucks Gallery in Glencoe, Il. Melanie has been awarded Visiting Artist positions at the American Academy in Rome in 2015 and 2018. She and her husband, Richard Kooyman, organize an artist-run project space, The Provincial, in the little village of Chief, MI where they live and work.
